About Ambria

My name is Ambria. I was born and raised in San Diego, CA. I moved to Baytown, TX in June of 2019. I am a multidisciplinary artist working mainly with photography, printmaking, and charcoal.

For the past 7 years my subject has been drag racing. Drag racing as a sport has a rich history and a never-ending need for speed, and there are so many different forms of racing to get involved in. My art highlights the different forms of racing from street racing to no prep, to nitro cars (“the professionals”), and so many more. The media I’m using changes with these different types of racing to help highlight the diversity in the sport.

Drag racing is not just about cars, of course, there’s dozens of people responsible for the quality of the track, the timing system, the ticketing, concessions, and most of all the safety of the drivers. We put so much focus on the drivers of the cars and forget the other people who without them, there would be no racing. I use my camera to showcase these dedicated workers and highlight them doing all the behind the scenes work that goes into the sport.
